What does Pool Studio do well?
Pool Studio is built for designing pools in detail. Its product page says you can design custom pools, spas, water features and outdoor living spaces in 2D and 3D, present interactive walkthroughs and plan the build from one project. Structure Studios lists these strengths: You can try it for 30 days with full access, and Structure Studios says no credit card is needed to start. Its blog (October 16, 2026) makes a fair point about AI images: they carry no measurements, so a builder still needs a measured design before construction.
- client presentations with photos up to 8K, a built-in video storyboard and time-of-day lighting from day to night
- one-click conversion of a 2D drawing to 3D, with editing from every angle
- square footage, triangulation and measurements for each custom detail
- design on aerial imagery with parcel boundaries, setbacks, topographic lines and scanned site maps (its llms.txt describes GIS imagery and parcel data as an add-on)
- a library of 2,924 3D objects, 1,503 materials and 1,748 plants and trees
- smart objects such as pergolas, decks, fences and walls that adjust as the design changes
- what Structure Studios calls build-ready plans for permits, approvals and change requests
- live training included with the membership
Why do builders look for a Pool Studio alternative?
These are the practical differences to weigh.
- Subscriptions are per seat, and each user needs their own license, so the cost grows with every designer or salesperson.
- The software runs on a Windows PC, with no native Mac version. For Version 4, the system requirements page recommends Windows 11, an Intel Core i7 (10th generation or later), 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 or better.
- Every design is drawn by someone. That time pays off once a homeowner is serious, and it is harder to justify on a first visit where the homeowner mainly wants to see a pool and a price.
- Pool Studio's pages describe presentations, measurements and construction plans. They don't list a priced proposal that the homeowner opens and approves (checked November 3, 2026), so the price comes from another tool.

Vip3D: more 3D from the same company
Vip3D fits if you want more presentation than Pool Studio gives. It is Structure Studios' high-end product, and its pricing page adds automatic spec sheets, import from SketchUp and FBX, true shadows, virtual reality and 360° photos, and more camera control to the Pool Studio feature list. As of November 2026 its pricing page lists $197 per user a month, or $167 on an annual membership, plus the same $95 setup fee. It shares Pool Studio's system requirements page, so it also needs a Windows PC with a dedicated graphics card. Moving up keeps you with the same company and its live training.
Pool Templates Pro-Suite: design and estimating in Excel
Pool Templates sells add-ins for pool builders. Its homepage, checked November 3, 2026, describes 3D, 2D and 1D custom pool plans, realistic renderings and movies, and builder and permit plans made with Excel and other landscape programs. It suits builders who already estimate in a spreadsheet and want design output attached to it. Its homepage doesn't show a price, so ask the vendor.
USAIPools: a quick AI picture on the address
USAIPools renders an AI pool onto a property. You start from an address (it pulls a live satellite image), Street View or your own backyard photo, then place the pool and choose one of five shapes, an optional round spa, one of three deck sizes and day, sunset or night lighting. You get a before and after image, an animated GIF and a share link. As of November 2026, Contractor costs $79 a month for up to 10 renders a day, Agency costs $249 a month, and three renders come with an email signup. Its FAQ says the AI can make mistakes and the pool may come out a slightly different size, shape or angle than you placed it. USAIPools is a good fit if all you need is the picture and you price the job somewhere else. Our PoolQuote vs USAIPools page covers the differences in detail.
PoolQuote: the picture and the price in one link
PoolQuote is visual quote software with a built-in quote CRM for US pool builders. It does not do scheduling, invoicing or job management. It covers the part of the sale before construction drawings: It runs in a web browser, so there's no graphics card to buy. The pricing page lists the seats each plan includes. Concept images are not measurements or engineering, and the site plan does not certify survey lines, code compliance or permit approval.
- concept images of your catalogue products on the customer's own property, from a phone photo, satellite or Street View
- a to-scale 2D site plan that fills the quote's measurements, a 3D view of the same design, and a printable permit sheet set (PDF) with DXF exchange for CAD
- up to five priced options, lettered A to E, built from your catalogue, with each line showing its working, such as "720 sq ft × $12 = $8,640"
- one proposal link where the homeowner compares options, likes a design, asks a question, requests a change or approves
- opens, reading time, questions and approvals recorded on the project, with follow-ups that come due on a date

Worked example: one seat for one year
Subscription prices only, as of November 3, 2026. They don't include hardware, training time or the cost of your own hours. A second Pool Studio designer adds $1,500 a year on the annual membership. On Pool Studio you would also need a Windows PC that meets the Version 4 requirements if your team doesn't have one.
- Pool Studio, annual membership: $125 × 12 + $95 setup: $1,595
- PoolQuote Entry, annual (website included): $1,500
- PoolQuote Base, monthly: $99 × 12: $1,188
- USAIPools Contractor: $79 × 12: $948
- Pool Studio annual plus PoolQuote Base: $1,595 + $1,188: $2,783
Can you use Pool Studio and PoolQuote together?
Yes. Send the PoolQuote link on the first visit, with concept images and priced options. When the homeowner approves an option, design the pool for construction in Pool Studio. Structure Studios' help pages list AutoCAD .dwg and .dxf import, and PoolQuote exports its site plan as DXF, so the plan can go across as a starting drawing. We haven't tested that hand-off ourselves, so try one plan before you rely on it. Nothing has to be migrated, because each tool holds a different stage of the job.
How do you choose a Pool Studio alternative?
Check each candidate against these questions on its own pages, or on one of your past jobs during a trial or demo.
- Do you need construction plans, or a design the homeowner can say yes to?
- How many people need a seat, and is pricing per user or per company?
- Does it run on the computers your team already has?
- Where does the price come from: the same tool, a spreadsheet or your operations software?
- How does the homeowner see the offer: a rendered video, a PDF, or a link with options and totals?
- How long does one design take from a blank project?
- What happens to your designs if you cancel? (Structure Studios recommends exporting project files before you cancel.)
Is there a Mac version of Pool Studio?
No. Structure Studios says Pool Studio, VizTerra and Vip3D run on Windows desktop only. Its FAQ says some members have run it through Boot Camp on a 15 or 16 inch MacBook Pro and asks Mac users to send their specs for advice. PoolQuote runs in a web browser on a Mac, a PC or a tablet.
Can an AI pool image replace a 3D design?
Not for building. An AI image has no measurements. PoolQuote pairs its concept images with a to-scale 2D site plan whose measurements feed the quote, but the contractor still confirms measurements on site, and complex construction drawings still belong in design software.
Is PoolQuote 3D pool design software?
It has a 3D view of the same design as the 2D site plan, made to help the homeowner decide. It doesn't offer Pool Studio's object library, walkthrough videos or 8K stills.
Does PoolQuote replace Pool Studio for permit plans?
It prints a permit sheet set as a PDF and exchanges drawings with CAD as DXF. It doesn't certify survey lines, code compliance or permit approval. Builders who rely on Pool Studio's construction plans can keep doing so.
